Banisters

When we first bought this house we thought we would sand down the light wood part of the banisters and stain them a darker color... Then we moved in and looked at the condition they were in. It is BAD. This house is 18 years old and was well used and not loved as much as it should have been. 


We are going to take out the little curved edge on the last step (pic below), put in 6" white square "newel" posts, white square spindles and stain the top railing the same stain I choose for the floors. The bottom piece that they sit on will be painted white as well.

The banisters are so prominent in our house this is going to make a huge difference. Can't wait!
