I am so excited to start this new blog to share with everyone my projects, ideas, things I discover and just fun things of everyday life. A big part of my blog will be showing how we update our new-to-us home. Here is some info to get you caught up to date.

January 2012

* We love looking at houses, home plans, etc. it is one of our favorite things to do together.

* My husband Dave is ALWAYS looking for houses. Many times a week he checks what is for sale.

* We have known from the beginning that we wouldn't stay in our current house forever, but had no idea when we would move.

* A Monday in early January Dave was looking at homes for sale as usual...  He emailed me a link to a house (which he does a lot) and ask me what I thought.

* It was in the neighborhood that we would love to be in, close to the elementary school, .3 acres, a great floor plan and it was a foreclosure so a GREAT price. It also needed a lot of work.

* We decided to go look at it. Dave emailed our realtor and he said we could go see it Tuesday night at 5:30.

* Around noon on Tuesday I emailed my friend Laura the link to the house to see it, and she called me to ask if I had seen the note at the bottom of the listing. We had not. That morning they had updated the web page saying that there were multiple offers on the home and if you wanted to put in a offer it had to be in by 4pm that day.

* Dave called our Realtor and he got an extension and we had until 10am the next morning to make an offer. When we got to the house that night two other families were finishing up their tours of the home! Needless to say after we got home Dave and I talked until midnight about everything and I couldn't sleep.

* We decided to put an offer on the house!

* We heard that there were 5 offers on the house

* The house was listed on the 8th... offers had to be in 10am on the 10th.. FAST!

* Nervously waited... and waited... Thursday at noon we found out that they accepted our offer!

* It all came so fast but really is a great home, good timing etc.

* We have had the inspection, gotten through a few hurtles, and made a long list of all of the work to do

We are moving!

* We are in the same ward family at church, which I am so happy about but Andrew will have to switch schools. The new school is a great school but Andrew (and I) will miss our old one! I have spent a lot of time helping out and working on the beautification committee, and gotten to know a lot of families really well. We will also miss our neighbors. Good friends were made and it will be sad to leave, but thankfully it is less than a three mile drive to the new house so we can have them over to play.

* Thankfully everything else will stay the same!

* Then there is the question- what about your house now?
    • We were planning on renting it out but long story short our friends are buying it! So fun and nice to know that a great family will continue to enjoy our home for the last 7 1/2 years!
For you who have made it through all of that- Whew! Here is the info about the house:

  • Built in 1994
  • End of a cul-de-sac, very quiet street.- except for the 22 kids! My boys are thrilled and have already met a lot of them.
  • Looks like it is from 1994 still- GOLD and MIRRORS everywhere!!!
  • .3 acre lot with a small front yard which means a big backyard! We have houses behind us but lots of big trees and the houses aren't as close as in our current neighborhood so there is still a feeling of privacy. Lots of room for a trampoline, swing set, playhouse garden and lots of grass for running.
  • Bright yellow! Needs to be painted soon- thankfully because I am not a fan- it will be done late spring /early for sure.
  • The master bedroom and 2 bedrooms up plus a loft which we will be turning into a bedroom before we move in so there will be three bedrooms + the master upstairs.
  • The basement is "finished". Whoever did it didn't do a great job, so down the road we will fix it but it is better than it not being finished for the mean time and there is another full bathroom down there.
  • Main floor has laundry, office, family room, powder room, kitchen, dining room, living room and large entry. The whole house has a very open floor plan and will be great for entertaining and hosting large crowds.
  • The garage is 3 car garage--- a large 3 car garage which is almost double the size of ours now- Dave is thrilled!
  • Here are some pictures- keep in mind it will look very different when I get my hands on it! Lots of potential though and great "bones" :)
  • I am so excited to be able to really make this house mine. It will take years, money and a lot of hard work, but I am so excited! (And thankfully so is Dave)

* Some of the pictures are taken from me and some are off the Internet, which makes them fuzzy...

The house is the one in the center, so you are looking mainly at the back of the house and the yard.

It is yellow!!! Hard to tell with the snow too.. but you get the idea.

Hello 90s!!! This is bad!!!

One view of the yard. Can't wait until spring and all of the trees are green!

Fire pit in the middle of the grass? Won't last long :)
